Now they are heading to Cetraro before setting sail towards #Gaza. The aim of the stopovers is to meet local collectives and to plan joint actions on land in support of the attempt by sea to break the illegal siege imposed on the Strip. A clear intention - yet undefined - emerges from their words: they do not want to exactly replicate what happened in the previous missions, but rather to take advantage of the “flotillas” as a catalyst for new and more massive direct actions, such as strikes and the blocking of the weapons supply chain. The change in strategy is accompanied by a volatile geopolitical scenario. In addition, there are also critiques of the symbolic and diplomatic value of the missions, critiques coming from some sectors of Palestinian society as well. These are critiques that the flotilla is trying to take on board, as the activists have argued. Only a few dozen people were present at the public meeting at @mezzocannoneoccupato_, crew members included. The organizers apologized for the absence of translators. Unfortunately, it does not seem that there was room to have an effective exchange of proposals. Italian grassroots unions, also constrained by legal requirements, are planning a general strike about a month after the scheduled departure, set around the end of April.
